  1. M31 is the closest and hence brightest 
  2. spiral galaxy. Known simply as the
  3. "Andromeda Galaxy, it easy naked-eye 
  4. object, stretching across 4 degrees of 
  5. space, and requiring very low power for
  6. good seeing. The galaxy contains an 
  7. estimated 300 billion stars and is 
  8. nearly 200,000 light years across 
  9. making it one of the largest galaxies 
  10. known. The whole mass slowly rotates 
  11. around the central hub, the core
  12. takes about 11 million years while the
  13. outer arms 90 million years or more. Some
  14. say that M31 looks much like the 
  15. Milky-Way would from the same distance.
  16.
